Companies Hope to Double Training Offerings By End of 2015

“Six Maritime’s long-term objective is to expand operations in West Africa”, explained Paul Robinson, the company’s COO. Six Maritime recognized early on that, in order to do business in Nigeria, partnering with a company with a clean reputation and extensive work history is critical. This is no easy task for those that do business in West Africa.

With 15 years of work experience in Nigeria and a partnership with the International Maritime Organization to certify mariners to international standards, Elkins Marine Training International is a company like no other.

“Six Maritime’s vision and extraordinary professionalism are unparalleled”, said David Byrd, President & CEO of Elkins. The Elkins-Six Maritime relationship, which began in 2013, was followed by a partnership agreement in Nigeria in early 2014.

The joint venture’s initial success inspired the creation of ELKINS USA TRAINING CENTER EAST in January 2015. The new school, located in Ocala, FL, is managed by Six Maritime’s East Coast contingent. The Elkins East curriculum has been certified by the U.S. Coast Guard as an approved Elkins Training Facility and authorized by the Veterans Administration under the VA-VR&R vocational rehabilitation and employment program. Six Maritime and Elkins are expect to double their training offerings by the end of 2015.
